Lynchburg

Located virtually in the center of Virginia, Lynchburg is a unique place to live, learn, work and play. It is a community in which residents and businesses alike enjoy a thriving diverse economy. It boasts a business-oriented political environment; dependable supplies of water, electricity, and natural gas. The area is home to multiple companies serving industries such as nuclear power, conveyer systems, insurance, and healthcare. The rapid growth of Liberty University has helped to boost the area’s reputation as an education center with multiple institutions including Lynchburg College, Randolph College, and Central Virginia Community College.

Lynchburg was ranked #49 by Forbes for best places for business and careers. Lynchburg’s position on the list placed it above all other metros in Virginia,  with the exception of Washington D.C.-Arlington, making the city the No. 2 “hot hub” in the state. Milken Institute ranked the Lynchburg area No. 54 overall in it’s “Best Performing Cities Index” for job growth, salary increases, and expansion of high-tech industries. Lynchburg and Northern Virginia were the only metro areas in the state to make the top 100. The Manufacturing sector remains a vital part of the Lynchburg MSA’s economy. As of 2019, manufacturing (with employment of 15,880) is Lynchburg’s largest sector of 127,065 total employment.
