Global Firm, JDSU, is First Corporate Tenant Joining The Bridges in Downtown Roanoke

ROANOKE, VIRGINIA:  Cushman & Wakefield | Thalhimer is pleased to announce JDSU will be the first corporate tenant joining The Bridges, a $100 million project redeveloping the long-vacant stretch along South Jefferson Street into new apartments, offices and retail.
JDSU is a global technology company which develops network and service enablement solutions for network equipment manufacturers, communications service providers and enterprises, and is headquartered in Milpitas, California.  JDSU will occupy approximately 24,643 square feet in the Trolley Barn, located at 323 Walnut Avenue, and part of the overall redevelopment of The Bridges.  The space, due for completion in December 2014, will feature an open, creative floor plan that once housed streetcar trolleys.
John K. Nielsen of Cushman & Wakefield | Thalhimer, and exclusive leasing representative of The Bridges, handled the lease negotiations. Mr. Nielsen notes, “Companies today are looking for space that is both functional and unique.  This is the largest new office lease signed in the downtown Roanoke area since March 2008.  It shows the improving health of the commercial real estate market as well as driving the continued growth of The Bridges into a vibrant project and demonstrating the growing opportunity for new development in Roanoke.”
