Cushman & Wakefield | Thalhimer is pleased to have represented PowerSchool in their lease of two floors of office space, totaling 40,000 square feet, at One Ten Franklin, 110 Franklin Road SE in Downtown Roanoke, Virginia.  The move allows PowerSchool to add 96 jobs to its local base of 85 employees, and plans to invest $1.8 million in their new space at One Ten Franklin. PowerSchool first established their presence in Roanoke in 2016 with the acquisition of successful local start-up Interactive Achievement. Occupancy is expected in first quarter 2018.

PowerSchool is the #1 leading education technology platform for K-12, serving more than 32 million students, 66 million parents, and 100 million users in over 70 countries around the world. The company, headquartered in Folsom, California, provides the industry’s first Unified Classroom experience with best-in-class, secure, and compliant online solutions, including registration and school choice, student information systems, learning management and classroom collaboration, assessment, analytics, and special education management. PowerSchool empowers teachers and drives student growth through innovative digital classroom capabilities and engages families through real-time communications across any device.

The City of Roanoke, Roanoke Economic Development Authority, Roanoke Regional Partnership, and Virginia Economic Development Partnership worked to secure the project for Virginia, and competed against California, Pennsylvania, and Texas for the project. Governor McAuliffe approved a $250,000 grant from the Commonwealth’s Opportunity Fund to assist the City with the project. The company is eligible to receive state benefits from the Virginia Enterprise Zone Program, administered by the Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development. Funding and services to support the company’s employee training activities will be provided through the Virginia Jobs Investment Program.  It also will receive a jobs-based grant from the Roanoke Economic Development Authority and City of Roanoke.

Barry L. Ward of Cushman & Wakefield | Thalhimer’s Roanoke office handled the lease negotiations for PowerSchool, and is also the exclusive representative for One Ten Franklin. “The Ownership of One Ten Franklin is excited to welcome a dynamic technology company into the building and looks forward to assisting them with their continued growth within the Roanoke Valley“, comments Barry Ward.
